This little document, a simple
two-sided piece of paper, some 8½"
x 6" in size, seems to me to be a reflection of a more relaxed,
slower-paced, refined ~ even innocent ~ age.
There is no year printed on this sheet, but
I believe Saturday, 6th October occurred in 1934, 1945, 1951 and 1956
during the Rangitiki's career. I think it's safe
to discount 1945, as the ship was still in Government service, and
so I'm guessing that this Programme was from the fifties.
Too bad that this one had no entries made ~
such documents with contemporary notes and comments made by a user
are always very interesting to the student of today. |

MAILING SCHEDULE
FINAL DATES FOR POSTING AIRMAIL LETTERS
Voyage 82
This document (shown about actual size) was
provided by the Company to the families of
crew members so that mail could reach the various
ports on the voyage before the ship's arrival, thus
obviating mail arriving too late.
This, or a similar list was, presumably,
provided for the use of passengers'
families and friends. |
