Passenger Lists

Passenger Lists were evidently handed to each passenger on the Company's vessels, certainly between England and New Zealand and vice versa.  Each list was in fact contained in a neat little booklet which would have provided the passengers with a very nice souvenir of their voyage.

These booklets contained a mine of information on Curacao, the Panama Canal and Pitcairn Island.  Earlier versions contained four pages of flags ~ shipping lines, nations, and signals, as well as a group photograph of the ship's officers, route maps and other General Information.

NOTE: This passenger list is from the last voyage my father made as a bachelor.  It is for the voyage that left
Wellington  on 24 March 1932, arriving in London on 27 April.  Mum and Dad were married on 15 May 1932.

As can be seen from these pictures, the covers were black with writing in a pleasing shade of sky blue.  The colour photograph of the Rangitiki on the 1932 and 1949 lists appear to be the same photograph, having faded somewhat on the older cover; similarly, the pictures on the 1950 and 1952 lists have been taken from the same photograph..

The back covers of these booklets showed similar maps of the British Isles, two with the Isles coloured empire pink, and two in a brownish yellow.  Only one of the four show the sea colored blue.
